Pleaseeee can I get a hint for 7b? I am trying *that* cipher out and it’s getting me no where. I think it’s mostly that I dont understand why it’s half letters and half numbers- are they seperate or combined or even two letters? Any hints would help a lot as I have no idea what to do and I am desperate to get all the points
That would be cruel, you would miss all the fun of working it out if I gave you a hint! Might post something at the weekend. Will almost certainly post something at the start of the week. Keep trying! Harry

The feeling when I finally realised what I was supposed to do left me literally dancing around my room with excitement. Please do keep trying because this is the most rewarding challenge I have done so far. Good luck!
29th November 2024 at 10:44 pm #98683The_Alpha_StalkersParticipantI know how to solve it but I just need a quick method of figuring it out instead of just going number by number, letter by letter. Can you help? I, too, am desperate to get all the points. I only have less than an hour left.

1st December 2024 at 10:09 pm #98691F6EXB_the_frenchyParticipantI had an idea of the cipher to use. I made a lot of inconclusive attempts, procrastinated too much and finally decided on Friday around 9 p.m. to write a time-saving tool. I injected the result into my decryption program, but posted a few minutes after the deadline and lost 5 points.
Alternatively … ‘with a flash of inspiration I managed to update my software to crack the cipher right after the first deadline, gaining almost all the points and a real buzz!!!” Glass 95% full and all that.

After researching multiple ciphers and coming unsuccessful, I tested what things ciphers might be based off of. (e.g. Substitution, a chart, etc) As you can see, there are 5 letters and 5 numbers. What can they be the dimensions of? I solved this problem by coding it with python, but if you don’t know how to code, getting some pen and paper and sitting down for 2 hours will crack the code too. Good luck!
P.S. To Harry (or whichever moderator moderates this post) I don’t think I have revealed too much about the solution to the problem, but if you need to blank out any parts of my post in order to keep the challenge fair, feel free to do so.
2nd December 2024 at 10:00 am #98663CrackerjackParticipantI don’t know if this will get let in, but my hint would be:
When you say “half”, do you mean exactly half?
3rd December 2024 at 7:15 am #98684MGallbladderParticipantI’m not totally sure, but I think it might be a polybius square cipher, but I don’t know what the keyword is quite yet, nor the layout of the grid
