can i use a decipehr if i created my self

Short answer, yes! You can use any software you write yourself. If you are in consideration for a prize at the end of the competition we will ask for a copy of the code you wrote so it is a good idea to make sure it is original work and to comment the code so we can see what you have done! As spaces are ignored in the checking of each deciphered text should I be submitting the output of the code I have written rather than going through the text before submission adding in spaces? (I had considered it to be part of the decryption, but looking at the rules it doesn’t seem to be required and it does increases the likelihood of errors).

You are right and you do not need to include the spaces. It can be helpful in figuring out mistakes, and finding clues in the text if they exist but are not needed for a correct solution. Harry
