The National Cipher Challenge

And that’s a wrap!

It is traditional to wrap up the National Cipher Challenge with a few statistics (catnip for some of our community) so here are some of my favourites:

We had 47,548 submissions to the 20 challenges (parts A and B) during this year’s competition.

Of those we received a total of 788 submissions for Challenge 10A and 1974 for Challenge 10B alone.

290 teams submitted a complete and correct solution to Challenge 10B out of the 5453 teams that took part.

Those teams involved 9368 participants and between you you posted 882 times to the 80 Forum topics.

Finally, Harry and the team answered 709 email queries from you over the last four months, and was delighted to get to know so many of you!

Of course you are all anxiously waiting to see the final leaderboard, and possible to find out whether or not you will get an invite to Bletchley. The Prize Committee will be meeting later this week to make some preliminary decisions and will be in touch via the Messaging system, so please do log in regularly over the next two weeks to check if you receive a message from us.

The leaderboard will be published once all the prizes and medals have been decided.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch. You can email us at [email protected].

With our very best wishes!
