… all of you who have been taking part in our practice challenges, we hope you have enjoyed them. With the first competition round starting this afternoon at 3pm we are looking forward to seeing how you all get on. Hopefully the practice paid off!
For those of you who have owned us a little late, you can still read the first three chapters of the story on the Challenge pages. We are displaying the original cipher text there so you can try to tackle them for yourselves if you want, but if you click on the Show Decrypt button you can just read the letters to get an introduction to the story,
As we said before, we will update the Challenge 1 and 2 leaderboards when we publish the Challenge 3 Leaderboard later this morning, to pick up any changes in team names or school affiliations, but don’t forget to take a look at the other leaderboards too. This year we have introduced a separate leaderboard for those who are too old to compete for prizes but can;t give up the competition (looking at you Kalicali and Puzzling Pelican!) and if you have been hanging around for a while you will recognise some very familiar users still lurking there.
We have also introduced a school participation leaderboard to recognise those schools that are making a real effort to get involved. the more teams you register and the more which submit, the higher your school ranking will be, so with that in mind we would like to congratulate the current leaders: King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls (Birmingham) who currently have 10 teams taking part. If you want to see your team showered in glory, then tell your friends and teachers and encourage them to get involved.
See you later
