… and bears may be fattening up for hibernation, but the Cipher Challenge community is stirring into life!
There are still just under two weeks to go until we publish the first practice challenge, but we already have over 1 thousand of you registered, with 851 teams listed in our records. Last year we managed to get to just shy of 10,000 registrations and we are really hoping to beat that record this year.
Our welcome post the other day listed a number of things you can do to keep busy until Oct 8th, but I don’t think we mentioned the Sunday Puzzle. Each week throughout the competition, we will publish a puzzle to keep you entertained. It should go live on the news page at around 7.15 on a Sunday morning, but we are not expecting you to get up that early to take a look. There are no prizes but we will enjoy reading your solutions if you post them on the Forum. We won’t publish your solutions until the following Sunday when the puzzle solutions will be posted alongside the next puzzle, but that way you can claim credit for your work! We have tried to collate a range of different sorts, so we hope you will find something new that you will enjoy, and I am saving one or two of the best for my Christmas Miscellany, which I will publish here on the Cipher Challenge website on Boxing Day as usual.
Have fun!
