We hope you are all enjoying the site and finding interesting things to see and do, but we know that what you all really, really want (I tell ya, I tell ya) is the first challenge.
It will be posted on Thursday 8th October (2026, for the avoidance of doubt and for any visitors in the distant future who might get confused) and will, like all the other challenges we post, consist of two parts, Part A and Part B. We don’t want to say much about them for now, as we prefer to keep the mystery alive, but Part A will continue the story of Sarah and her friends, while Part B will not. (We are nothing if not cryptic here at BOSS HQ!)
You don’t have to submit solutions to A and B in order tot take part in the competition, you will get individual certificates and leader board entries for each part you enter, but your position on the overall leaderboards will depend on all your submissions, so the more you try the higher you are likely to appear.
That last paragraph was a little misleading, as it is not true that the overall leaderboard depends on all your submissions. In fact that is wrong in two ways: firstly, your score for a given challenge (part A or part B) is based on your best attempt at it. You can try multiple times and we only use your best score; secondly, the first three challenges, 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B are for practice only, we will publish certificates and leaderboards for them, but they don’t count towards the overall standings, which start with Challenge 4.
If you have questions about this then do head over to the forum to ask them, we have hoards of experts waiting to help (most of them other competitors) and it is a friendly place to hang out.
