I think I’m going to have to give up for tonight, I’ve made some progress but this is so hard to get anywhere with and I’m very tired! If anyone else is still working on it, well done but also please get some rest! (initial message sent at 22:52 18/12 because I noticed it says the time the mods let the messages through not when the messages were initially sent)
This is awful! I think I have the main idea but don’t know where to advance from there! 🙁
That’s not awful, that’s fantastic. Now you sleep on it and then you go again, and then do something else, rinse and repeat until suddenly you go AHA! and you will NEVER forget that feeling. Harry
Surely having number and letters would make it a giveaway to what cipher it is but dont listen to me its only my first year

On holiday and have spent the entire night attempting to solve 10b. Goodbye joint first. Made tons of progress earlier then we stagnated :/

someone in my team thinks they know at least what cipher it is, but with what we’re trying, there could be over 100 billion options so i think we’ve made a mistake…

Ooi, how many ppl have solved it so far?To be clear, a post that has disappeared/not appeared MIGHT still be waiting for moderation or have found its way into the “NOT POSTING THIS” bin, but it is much more likely to be in the “OOOOH that’s interesting, let’s schedule that for later!” pile! Harry
Everytime I feel like I’m on the right track, my programs just spit out a big fat “NO” in the form of gobbledygook. This is my first cipher challenge and I did not expect for this to be so hard in the final week! My mind is so stuck on it I even dreamt about solving it last night… save me

Harry can we have an early christmas present in the form of a hint no matter how cryptic as we do not need another situation of somebody not eating for a long time or depriving themselves or sleep i mean me myself am barely recovering from a bad fever and still doing this.

Do you know the book Little Monkey by Marta Altes? If I remember right it has the memorable exchange

Which is a long winded (if, I hope, charming) way to say – go teach yourself to programme! There are tons of resources on the web and there is even a nice video by one of our competitors explaining how the cipher challenge was his way into python coding as a newbie.
