Looking challenge 3B I found that the last three letters did not need rearraigning and it looked like that bit wasn’t encrypted. What was going on ?

I think the Case Files might contain the answer to your question? Jodie

Sometimes when you have extra letters left after constructing the blocks of the cipher, you can leave in unencrypted. Try and rearrange the last 3 letters to make the last word make sense if that helps

Has anyone else encountered that there is an extra ‘D’ in the plaintext for 3B?

No more than are strictly necessary I think! Harry

I saw that also, but my english isn’t good enough to know whether the expression is correct or not. I only know the spelling without the final “D”.

    3B Info. . .
There are 29 D’s in the ciphertext and you shoud have 29 D’s in your plaintext,
whether the D should be there or not does not matter.
Be reassured that if you get a score of 100 then all is well.

All will, I hope, be clear when we publish the solution on Nov 6th! Harry

I think I understand what this ā€œDā€ means.
You have to put a period before and another after it.

That is definitely one possibility, Harry

Are there going to be any more tips in the case files because we are really struggling with this one?

I’ll ask Jodie if she has one in mind! Keep an eye on the Case Files to see if she comes up with something. Harry

I suspect that the letter in question is meant to be a “word” of its own, referring to a person (Derby, Dodge, Dickens?) by the initial of their surname.

Hmm, I wonder who it could be?

I’m sure that we will find who D is eventually!
