    Teachers,

Maybe you would consider these books for your students:

Substitution Ciphers and How to Break Them

The Vigenère Cipher and How to Break It

Full disclosure: These are great books, and I wrote them myself, based on years of accumulated expertise in the the Cipher Challenge.

I can echo the recommendation. We were delighted when Madness offered us the text of his fantastic book on codebreaking to add to the BOSS library. Given that the pdf is available here for free, we are more than happy to recommend that those who can afford a printed copy of these sections for their (or their school’s) library should head over to Amazon to take a look! I believe that last year Madness mentioned a printed copy. I didn’t know it had been done. What is the title?

@F6EXB, the print version of the big book does not exist (yet). There was not enough interest, that I heard. I would have to re-do everything in black and white, or else the price would be high.

If it ever exists, the title would be “A Modern View of Classical Cryptography”, you know, ‘cuz computers and stuff.

Most libraries let you print for a small sum per page. That’s what I did since I can’t concentrate when reading off a screen. It ends up costing about the same as a paperback.

Sorry I was hoping the link would appear rather than a kindle preview page – not sure why it is doing that, if you search for item no B0DM6F6BH7 and B0DJDBCWV4 on amazon dot co dot uk you should find the books.

Contrary to popular demand ( 🙂 ) I don’t think Madness has published a printed copy of their book; these are two shorter books on the Vigenère & Substitution ciphers .

Madness: I (and probably others!) would love a print copy of your larger book.

PS: ‘unabiguous’ is a typo, Unit 160, page 521.
