Starting a topic in the spirit of previous years’ jokes threads. Here’s a starter:

There are two types of people in this world:

      1. Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Why do I keep reading it as ‘Elf on the Shelve’?

Is this a joke? Are we supposed to reply with “I don’t know, why do you keep reading it as “Elf on the shelve”?” and then you come back with a zinger? That would be great!

Trick of the mind. Because it rhymes.
Sure it’s no joke, but now others who read it will, at first glance, maybe now, auto read it that way too.

      Sorry, no zinger Harry.

Sorry to disappoint but this elf is on shift, not on the shelf! I’ll shelve that comment under a shelf-fulfilling prophecy though (there’s an attempt at your zinger Harry)

Reminds me, why did the computer scientist confuse Halloween and Christmas?
        Because OCT 31 = DEC 25

…and those who didn’t expect a ternary joke.

[I feel a need to caution you if you want to read this post: this way madness lies. Harry]

OK, so an ant was returning from battle, and he was very thirsty from the exertion.

If you don't see the image, go here: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/HUwSlhAboAAxAp-?format=jpg&name=medium

He went to his queen, and she suggested that there had spilled some cola nearby. So the ant walked to the puddle of warm cola, but there was a long line of ants waiting to get a drink.

Our hero returned to his queen and griped about the long line, so she suggested that there could be found an open bottle of lemonade (American lemonade, made with lemon and sugar; not that bubbly stuff from Germany) on the ground over yonder. She indicated the direction of over yonder with a wiggle of her antenna, which is not a maneuver we humans are familiar with. But when the ant reached the location of the fabled bottle, there was once again a long line of ants (and a few wasps) waiting for a drink.

Again our hero returned to the nest, and told the queen of his troubles. She told him that a scout had recently discovered a broken punchbowl with some fruitpunch still in it (have you guys ever tried Hawaiian Punch?). Our little ant trudged over to the place and found the bowl. There were no other ants around, and so he drank to his satiation.

When the ant returned to the queen to thank her, she said, “That’s right, this joke has no punchline.”

Did hear the story about the yellow ping pong ball?

He lay there on his death bed, his breathing shallow. His wife and son looking on.
His son asks him if there is anything he would really, really like to have.
He beckons with his hand for his son to come nearer.
His son leans over him and his father whispers in his ear.
A few minutes went by and the wife ask, “well what did he say?”
“He said,” his son replyed, “that he wants a yellow ping pong ball.”
“What!” said is wife, “what does he want a yellow ping pong ball for?”
“How would I know?” says the son turnig to his farther, “dad, what do
you want a yellow ping pong ball for?”
      His farther said “I . . I . . uhhh”

Between the missing punchline and the (apologies that some posts have been ‘shelved’) slow queue, this thread has quite the mystery on its hands!
