So far every clue in the case files has not helped me. Now its in the case files I can say I had the word “company” since the first 5 minutes from a dictionary attack and I have not known what to do with it. I thought maybe it was a combo of words until I made a simulated annealing program which proves it cant be that. I was thinking a two stage cipher, perhaps a transposition before hand, but I haven’t been able to get that working. Is it maybe a variation of a Playfair cipher? Or am I missing something obvious?

With “company” you should be able to figure some of the plaintext (or all of it, with some educated guesses). You can compare anything you figure out to the ciphertext. Maybe look slightly closer at the encryption method?

Yes, you are right about it being a variation but perhaps looking in similarities of the words that are not matching up and finding what the plaintext should’ve been will give you a hint on what the variation is.(This is how I solved it!)I hope Harry will let this through.

It’s a reasonably straight Playfair: apart from how to deal with entries on the same row or column!!
