I am currently revising some of my Python scripts for this year’s competition, and I was wondering which Python libraries I am allowed to use. Is there a list of ones that we can use, or is there some rule that we can apply to determine whether a library is permitted? In particular, it would be useful to know whether I can use: numpy, numba, collections, math, time, cProfile, re, itertools, string, random and matplotlib.

In previous years when similar questions have been asked, importing general purpose libraries like the ones you mentioned is fine, but existing cipher cracking tools are not (the tools on this site are allowed, though)

A good rule of thumb you is that shouldn’t be using anything that “imports your way to victory”. So that rules out libraries like pycipher, online solvers like dCode and templates written by other people rather than our own code. You can use those to learn how a cipher works or how an attack is structured, then build your own tool from that.

If there are any other specifics, do ask and Harry may correct if anything has changed!
